我们第一次认识林夕应该都是从他的歌词开始。特别是他与王菲的经典合作，众人皆迷离于那一丝飘渺不定之中。有人列出了林夕的经典歌词，我想每个爱词人心里都有一张自己的经典歌词，而这词里必有来自林夕的。

他的歌词是可以叫人慢慢品味的，能写出这样的话语，必然经过了深思熟虑。绝不是想到哪里填进去押韵就行了。如今这个速成时代里，大部分歌词曲子完全就是随机拼凑的模式。急于求成的歌手作曲作词者们常常让我怀疑他们是否只是幼稚园毕业，而最怪异处是这样的歌还有颇多真的红了，世道变了，感叹自己果然是落伍了。于是林夕那隽永的歌词更似清流叫人感触。如书中所写，在他看来尽管绞尽脑汁深思熟虑，咖啡茶度过的一个个难熬的夜晚，写出一首满意的词的成就感是无以比拟的。
